Yes it is(Su-57 like it’s called now), much like the MC-21, it’s one of the projects that they hope that can take them back to the glorious Soviet aerospace past.

Who are they going to buy from? Russia? China?
Good luck with that.

Well, considering the technology it’s built on and uses, pretty sure they’ve been successful.

In theory, they hope that Aeroflot will order additional 30 MC-21's instead of the Max’s that they were denied. That would raise the firm orders above 200 units . The first planes are expected in 2021 but with the transition of some international parts to Russian parts, I see delays in their future.

To be fair, Aeroflot hasn’t really been living up to the standard that they set in the 80s and 90s lately, so...

Maybe the MC-21 will be a success, but as of right now the Su-57 appears dead in the water. Without Indian cooperation they don’t seem to have enough money to start full-rate production, and there really aren’t any other promising export markets. Things could change if the price of oil increases, but right now it just doesn’t seem possible for them to fund mass production.

At the moment it seems like they are only targeting the 737 MAX and A220, which leaves lots of alternatives (though conveniently helps out the MC-21 and Sukhoi Superj et respectively by removing competitors ).
It would be really funny if they banned purchases of the widebodies, Il-96s for everyone!
